The clinker is subsequently milled into a finely powdered state and combined with gypsum to yield cement. In chemical applications, rotary kilns are instrumental in crafting a range of chemicals, encompassing lime, alumina, and titanium dioxide. These kilns are heated to elevated temperatures, and raw materials are introduced at one end. As the materials traverse the kiln, chemical reactions occur, culminating in the discharge of the final product at the opposite end. In the context of waste incineration, rotary kilns are harnessed to incinerate and manage waste substances. Waste materials are introduced at the kiln's inlet and incinerated at high temperatures, leading to waste volume reduction and the elimination of hazardous components.

A rotary kiln, a large cylindrical rotating apparatus, finds application across various industrial processes, including cement production, minerals processing, and waste incineration. With a lengthwise inclination, typically ranging from 2 to 8 meters in diameter, this slowly revolving tube facilitates controlled movement. Material for processing enters the kiln's upper end, gradually progressing toward its lower end as the kiln rotates. Fuelled by a lower-end burner, which introduces flames into the kiln, temperatures inside can soar to 1500 degrees Celsius, dependent on the intended purpose. During its transit through the kiln, the material undergoes an array of chemical and physical transformations, encompassing drying, calcination, and sintering. This dynamic process yields diverse products, such as cement clinker, lime, and activated carbon.
